Ron Aliano was a Norwich citizen and businessman who exemplified what it means to be community focused. Ron founded Professional Ambulance Service of Norwich, Inc. (now known as American Ambulance Service, Inc.), and the American Wharf Development Corporation which was responsible for the development of Hollyhock Island (now known as the Marina at American Wharf, a world-class boating facility), in 1996 he formed American Professional Education Services which has become a well-respected medical training center, and the largest American Heart Association training center in New England,  In 2001 he formed MACARA Vehicle Services, a full service auto center.

 

Ron was a community leader who believed in giving back to Norwich and the surrounding region. Each year, a local citizen and a local business are presented with the Ron Aliano Service Award at a banquet in their honor.  These recipients are chosen by the Aliano family based on their dedication and support of our community.
