Celia Siefert

The Norwich Events Organization's newest award is the

Jason Vincent Memorial Service Award. This award is given to a member of the community that embodies Jason's spirit to commitment, to community through volunteerism and willingness to always step in if help is needed.

Jason Vincent was a brilliant mind who poured his heart and soul into everything he believed in. It will be difficult to describe Jason in words, but we are going to try to make him proud. Jason was fun-loving, brilliant, a family member, a mediator and so clumsy that he wasn't allowed to use the power tools. He wore a big smile, had a huge heart, was a poet with words, an expert doodler and a peacemaker. Jason was always generous, encouraging, appreciative and supportive especially when it came to his love of our local community. Not to mention, he was an epic friend, diplomatic, hilarious, quick-witted, dependable, sincere, chatty, honest, caring and a lover of dogs, history and meringue.

Jason graduated from Plainfield High school in 1992 and then went on to graduate from Central Connecticut State University. He was the president at Norwich Community Development Corporation and was involved in economic development and planning for over two decades in public and private sectors. During his career he worked for the towns of Plainfield, Stonington and Norwich. Jason also loved helping small business owners achieve their vision and goals.

One of his favorite lines was "Support those That Support You" #STTSU or support Local.
